I am a lot of things...
I am a child of God, a wife, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a lawyer, a great cook, a cool chick, and a WOMAN. To sum it up, I am perfectly me.
I am Natalie. There are a lot of things that come along with who I am.
Here are the things that make me who I am:
I was born and raised in Albany, Georgia.
This means I have all of the charm and class of a southern belle. But, because I am from the east side of Albany, I am more alert than that charm and class would have others to believe. In other words, just because I am really kind, doesn't mean I am naive. It simply means that my manners and my wisdom won't allow me to speak on everything that I understand.
I have two parents.
I was raised with my mother's example and my father's validation. My mom is a beautiful renaissance woman. Just like Proverbs 31. She worked, took care of home, took care of herself, and looked good while doing it. I believe in doing the same. I am a professonal at work, but my job title has no standing in my home. And I WILL take care of me, and look good while doing it. My father was a present, strict, and loving father. So the standards that he set just won't allow me to settle. I know I am beautiful and smart, because my daddy said so.
I have 4 sisters, and I am the second youngest.
This means I am spoiled and I understand women. In addition to spoiling me, my sisters taught me that not all women are catty and insecure. We are the most loving, nurturing, encouraging, insightful, strong, and powerful beings on this earth. My sisters are my safe place. So, I am never alone in this life. They are my inspiration, so I believe in miracles.
I am married to my best friend.
My husband makes it ok for me to be and do whatever I desire because he is my friend first. His love is liberating. I am free.
I have always been different.
When you are different from everyone around you, that's hard. I grew up in a family of athletes. I don't have an athletic bone in my body. But, I played three musical instruments, loved to read, loved to learn, and loved to cook. Being different taught me two things: 1. Different isn't wrong; It's just different. The things that make us different, make us special. 2. Compassion: I have learned to accept people for who they are and not to try and change them into who I want them to be.
I am well educated and still down to earth.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, Master's degree in Public Administration, a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree, and I am a licensed attorney. All of that doesn't mean anything if I am not using my knowledge to help myself and others. So, I pride myself on being down to earth, and not defined by my academic achievements, but being enhanced by them.
